Faith Formation Philosophy

This policy is offered in the spirit of love and the need to pass our Catholic faith and heritage on to our children. By following the policy (guidelines) outlined herein, together we can provide our children with the quality religious instruction and formation they deserve.

 Catechism of the Catholic Church

Our policy as set forth in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), regarding the relationship among parents, children, and the local parish, and the responsibility of religious education.

  • Parents must regard their children as children of God and respect them as human persons. Showing themselves obedient to the will of the Father in heaven, they educate their children to fulfill God's law (CCC #2222)
  • Parents are to take an active role in the religious education of their children being the first heralds of the mysteries of the faith for their children.(CCC#2225)
  • Education in the faith by parents should begin in the child's earliest years (CCC#2226)

St. Teresa of Avila

The family is the ideal and most fruitful environment for religious education. Our students are present in a formal religious instruction educational classroom setting the equivalent of about 2 1/2 full days a year; therefore, our GIFT program can only take root and grow if the formation and work continues at home.

Passing on the gift of faith to your child is God's is the most precious gift you can give, but the nurturing of that faith takes root in the day to day living of family life.
